Sino-EU Joint Commission on Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation Highly Appraised Bilateral Dialogue and Cooperation in Multi-Fields |

Wei Jianguo, Vice Minister of Commerce, EC Trade Commissioner Pascal Lamy presided together the 19th Sino-EU Joint Commission on Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation on 30th Oct.. Both sides highly appraised the bilateral dialogue and cooperation in science and technology, transportation, communication, energy, tourism, Customs, environment protection and education etc. and discussed main topics that the two sides were concerned in bilateral trade.
Wei expressed that Chinese government attached great importance to the development of foreign trade and economic cooperation between China and EU. The two sides recently issued relative policies, which laid foundation for future cooperation in many fields. China and EU Economy are complementary to each other have great potential in cooperation. China and EU would further enhance the cooperation for long term mutual benefit.
In recent years, cooperation between China and EU developed with high speed and both sides achieved big increase in bilateral trade and investment. EU has become the third biggest trading partner, the forth biggest foreign investment source and the biggest technology source.
Minister Wei Jianguo said that China was satisfied with the fast development in bilateral trade and economic cooperation and would like to solve problems with EU in foreign trade and relationship through negotiation so as to push the cooperation to make new progress and realize earlier the strategic target of " the biggest trade and investment partner to each other", which was proposed by leaders of two sides.
Lamy expressed his pleasure to come to China again and believed that the Joint Commission would help both sides to set up a more close working relationship and further reinforced and developed the favorable consultation and cooperation mechanism on foreign trade and economic cooperation, to promote the continuous development in foreign trade and economic cooperation between China and EU, meanwhile, also push the multilateral trade negotiation to have progress.
On the Joint Commission, both sides agreed on the establishment of Sino-EU trade policy dialogue mechanism, and maintained regular high level dialogue and consultation
